ISZ-01 Medium Range IFF Interrogator

Description

The ISZ-01 is an interrogation device to be used for identification friend-or-foe (IFF) purposes. It is dedicated mainly for integration with medium range surface-to-air weapon systems, such as SA-8, SA-6, SA-3 etc.
The LOARA self-propelled antiaircraft gun system, newly developed in RADWAR, incorporates an ISZ-01 interrogator as well. The ISZ-01 is entirely new and unique among IFF equipment of the same class, featuring such benefits as a built-in extractor, quasi-monopulse processing, extensive BITE, very low power consumption and light weight. All the subsystems of the interrogator have been developed and are manufactured in RADWAR.

Main Characteristics

  • Full compliance with the NATO STANAG 4193 and the civil ICAO, Annex 10, standards
  • Supporting modes: 1, 2, 3/A and mode 4 (or national secure mode); easily adaptable to mode S and mode 5
  • Easy integration with weapon systems (no need for microwave rotary joint)
  • Powerful BITE, including:
    - thorough test after switching on
    - automatic function tests and fault indication during stand-by
    - asignal parameter test during interrogation
  • High reliability due to modern technology and low power consumption
  • Small size, light weight
Equipment Configuration

The ISZ-01 interrogator includes two main parts:
  • transceiver and signal processor unit,
  • interface unit.
In such a configuration, the transceiver/signal processor unit is mounted directly onto the rotary antenna of the weapon's target acquisition radar, and the interface unit is built into the static part of the system, the two communicating via a serial data link. So there is no need for microwave rotary joint when incorporating ISZ-01 interrogators into weapon systems already in service.
Optionally, a memory module can be attached to the interface unit or, alternatively, an external cryptographic device can be connected to it.
