Products >Identification "Friend-or-Foe" (IFF) Systems The IFF system operation is based on active interrogations and encoded replies. The world's leading IFF system, also used in the NATO countries, referred to as Mark XII, is defined by the NATO STANAG 1493 and the ICAO Annex 10 civil standard. The Mark XII system uses fixed carrier frequencies: 1030 MHz for interrogations and 1090 MHz for responses. The Mark XII system can operate in several modes, designated as modes 1, 2, 3/A, C and mode 4 (secure mode), which feature different number of possible code combinations. Modes 1, 2, 3 and 4 are used in air forces, whereas mode A and C are applicable in civil aviation (the combined mode 3/A enables interoperation between military airspace control systems and civil aviation. Mode 4 (secure mode) uses special powerful cryptographic algorithms to ensure high credibility of replies. Main Common Features of Offered IFF Equipment:
