> UMBRELLA Anti-aircraft Gun System

Description

The UMBRELLA anti-aircraft artillery system is designed to combat air targets flying at low altitudes, as well as light armoured ground and sea surface targets, in day and night conditions. Use of UMBRELLA increases fire lethality with reduced consumption of ammunition and the number of guns needed.

  • BCV-Battery Control Vehicle (BCV) is furnished with electronic equipment ensuring the acquisition and tracking of indicated targets, control of the gun battery and inter-operation with the superior command post. An optoelectronic head incorporating a TV camera, FLIR camera, laser range finder and an IFF interrogator is used for target acquisition and tracking.
  • The gun battery . consists of various calibre guns (like 23, 35 or 57 mm), properly upgraded to fit the automatic fire control function.
  • The electro-optical director unit enables visual air space surveillance. Linked digitally with the control vehicle, this unit can be used for searching and tracking targets in the autonomous mode of UMBRELLA operation, without external target indication.
  • The power generator is a 20kW installed on a two-wheeled trailer which is towed by the control vehicle.
